Therapy for Complex and Relational Trauma Responses
Complex and relational trauma responses may be connected with repeated, prolonged, or relational experiences in which there was not enough safety, support, protection, or emotional holding.
These experiences can arise in childhood environments, family dynamics, relationships, chronic instability, neglect, harm, or situations in which your needs were dismissed or did not feel safe to express.
Their effects may be felt in the nervous system, sense of identity, self-worth, boundaries, and expectations of others. You may become easily activated, disconnected from your body, highly attentive to other people’s emotions, cautious around conflict, uncertain of your needs, or caught between wanting closeness and needing protection.
These responses may be understood not as flaws, but as adaptations that supported survival, connection, or safety in difficult circumstances.

How therapy can help?
Therapy can help you notice responses connected with earlier experiences, strengthen emotional and bodily safety, and gently explore how the past may continue to affect the present. Over time, this work can support greater integration, self-compassion, trust in your perceptions, and more choice in relationships.
How do I know if I need therapy?
Therapy may be helpful if experiences from earlier in life still shape how safe, connected, or at ease you feel in the present.
You might also seek support if you often feel disconnected, self-conscious, watchful, withdrawn, or uncertain about why particular situations affect you so deeply.
My approach
I approach complex and relational trauma responses with care, pacing, and respect for the protective responses that helped you endure.
We focus on safety, choice, and understanding, allowing healing to unfold without pressure to revisit anything before you feel supported and ready.
