Therapy For Family and Intergenerational Patterns
Family and intergenerational patterns can shape how you understand yourself, relate to others, respond to conflict, express needs, and make sense of belonging. They may involve spoken or unspoken expectations, caregiving roles, emotional closeness or distance, loyalty, migration, cultural pressures, loss, periods of instability, or ways of coping that developed within a family or across generations. You may carry strengths such as resilience, responsibility, adaptability, or deep care for others while also feeling shaped by roles or beliefs that leave limited room for your own needs. Exploring family experiences need not be about assigning blame or reducing anyone to a single story. These patterns may reflect the conditions in which they developed, what helped you endure or stay connected, and what may no longer fit the life and relationships you want now.

How therapy can help?
Therapy can help you explore how family relationships, roles, and familiar ways of coping may continue to affect your emotions, choices, boundaries, and relationships. Together, we can make room for complexity, including love, loyalty, grief, anger, gratitude, and ambivalence, while supporting greater choice in what you wish to carry forward, reshape, or set down.
How do I know if I need therapy?
Therapy may be helpful if family experiences remain emotionally present, or if contact, distance, and familiar roles continue to shape how you feel in relationships. You might also seek support if expectations around loyalty, caregiving, conflict, or boundaries make it difficult to remain connected to yourself while staying in relationship with others.
My approach
I approach family and intergenerational patterns with compassion, cultural humility, and respect for the many ways people adapt within families and communities. Our work centers on your lived experience without requiring blame, confrontation, forgiveness, or continued contact. We move at a pace that supports safety and choice, recognizing both the impact of what you have carried and the strengths that have helped you find your way.
