Therapy For Coping Patterns
Coping patterns often begin as creative and necessary ways of finding safety, connection, predictability, or relief when emotions or circumstances feel difficult to hold. You may have learned to cope by withdrawing, overthinking, staying busy, seeking reassurance, pleasing others, retreating into fantasy, minimizing your needs, intellectualizing feelings, avoiding conflict, or trying to remain in control.
These responses may have helped you manage difficult environments, preserve important relationships, or make sense of experiences that once felt too much to hold alone. Over time, however, a strategy that was once protective may begin to feel exhausting, limiting, or disconnected from the life and relationships you want now.

How therapy can help?
Therapy can help you identify the emotional logic beneath coping patterns and understand the needs, fears, or painful experiences they may be trying to manage. This awareness can create space for new responses that feel more flexible, compassionate, and aligned with who you are now.
How do I know if I need therapy?
Therapy may be helpful if familiar ways of coping leave you feeling constrained, distant from yourself or others, or less able to respond in ways that fit your life now. You might also seek support if you understand these patterns intellectually but would like more space, guidance, and practice to develop greater flexibility.
My approach
I approach coping patterns with respect for the role they have played in protecting you. Together, we explore them gently while supporting more choice, emotional openness, and self-compassion in how you respond.
